Membership Letter
Let’s
Start at the Very Beginning….
Among the most vital of
any BSA component is its membership. The BSA can have the greatest
programs found anywhere; it can have unlimited financial resources to
fund those programs; it can have excellent camps and other facilities;
it can have highly trained and exceptionally talented professionals on
staff. But, without youth and adult membership, everything else is
irrelevant. Membership is the primary ingredient in the well-mixed blend
of all the other ingredients in the BSA program of unequalled youth
development.
Because it is so important, the Klahaya District encourages all
of its units to participate in membership drives on a semi-annual basis.
It might be obvious to some, but, one of the first things a unit has to
have to be successful in this effort is a person on their committee in
charge of membership. Does your pack, troop, team or crew have such a
person? You may be surprised to find out that many don’t.
If
your unit does not have a membership chair, now is the time to get one.
If your unit has a membership chair already, now is the time to let
others know who that is.
