Fourth Annual Klahaya District 
Whitehorse Hike-O-Ree 
April 27-29, 2007 

This year, the Klahaya District staff with the assistance of as yet unnamed Troop or Troops will present a training event for new Scouts. The focus of this event will be learning practical outdoor skills needed to complete Scout through First Class advancement. The Scouts will be presented with opportunities to learn and practice many skills at a single event. 

These include:

bulletMeasuring 
bulletFire Building (Firem'n Chit) 
bulletLightweight Stove 
bulletLashing (Camp Gadget) 
bulletAxe and Knife sharpening and use (Totin' Chip) 
bulletNative Plant and Animal Identification 

Older Scouts can earn service time by assisting the Adults with classes. Alternative events of a competitive nature are being arranged. 

This event will be held on property west of Darrington, near the Bluegrass Music Park. Detail maps and driving instructions will be available at the March Roundtable. 

Cost will be $_ per person when registering by _. The cost will then be $_ per person. The registration fee includes a patch.

There will be a limit of one campsite per unit. The campsites will be assigned on arrival. 

Each Scout and Scouter attending is expected to "Be Prepared" for camp. You should have sufficient water, food and shelter for your unit. 

Pack-It-In - Pack-It-Out 

Cooking will be performed by the patrol method. 

Limit the size of cook fires or use stoves. Firewood is limited on site and may be wet. 

There is no municipal water source. Be prepared to either bring in water for the weekend or otherwise filter or treat the river water. 

Plan to camp either Friday, Saturday or both nights. You can also hike in on Saturday morning and back out again in the evening.

Adults are expected to eat with their units. To accommodate adults on staff, who will be busy with events; meals can be provided for $__ each. To buy the correct amount of food, you must let us have an accurate count before the event. 

On site parking is very limited. You are expected to treat this as hike-in camping. Please make arrangements with the event staff if you need to have a vehicle for drop off or pick up. 

No beach driving. 

Leave your entertainment electronics at home. Harmonicas, guitars, bugles and other non-powered musical instruments are welcome. 

Loner gear may available for new Scouts. Contact information may be posted.
