First Place for each Division (Division I: Webelos    Division II: Eleven year old scouts and up) A first place for each town (except Juneau and Bennet Wood Yard) will also be recognized.

Check in time at JUNEAU will start at 9:00 AM. It usually takes an hour to check in all the teams. The first Dawg teams will not start on the trail until approximately 9:30 AM.

Webelos Dens will be scored on these towns only: Juneau, Nuggett Junction, Bennett Wood Yard, Dawson Siding, Gold Dust City, Donner’s Pass, Little Salmon, and Frozen to Death Valley, The Last Race.  Webelos may participate in all towns.

JUNEAU  At this town the Mayor and assistants will check your equipment before you head out on the trail.  You will be checked on the following: check in on time; safe sledge; proper equipment stored correctly; patrol members dressed appropriately for the weather. Mayor may ask you for several specific items.  A loss of one nugget for each item not available to show to the Mayor.  MAXIMUM OF 20 Nuggets.

NUGGET JUNCTION  It has rained for days and your 5 X 7 tarp is really soaked.  To dry it out your Town Mayor will teach you a game.  The game consists of using your tarp to throw an object over a line between two trees.

MAXIMUM OF 35 Nuggets.

WHITE HORSE LOG LIFT Your Patrol needs to suspend your bear bag ten feet high.  You need to throw a 40 foot rope over a 10 foot high spar and tie the following knots:  Clove Hitch, Timber Hitch, and Sheepshank.  The Mayor does not have rope.  MAXIMUM OF 35 Nuggets.

BENNETT WOOD YARD Welcome to the wonderful world of the two man buck saw.  Using a saw that the town Mayor will provide you will be required to cut blocks of wood using your entire patrol.  MAXIMUM OF 15 Nuggets.

CHILKOOT TRAIL  You will need to rescue your patrol member who is 30 feet away from you.  You will use the rope that you have on your sledge.  Hope you know your first aid.  MAXIMUM of 35 Nuggets.

FROZEN TO DEATH VALLEY To make camp you will need to pitch a tent and boil a cup of water and make cocoa for the Mayor.  Bring your own water, cocoa, cooking gear, and tent.  MAXIMUM of 35 Nuggets.

SAM MAGEE’S OVEN Sam is cold and hungry. You will need to build him a fire and cook him a flap jack, flip it, and offer it to the Mayor for taste and quality.  Bring your own equipment and fixins for your flap jack.  MAXIMUM of 35 Nuggets.

DAWSON SIDING Woods tools are what you need to make camp.  Demonstrate the proper way of sharpening a ¾ axe.  And using your pocket knife that you have properly sharpened you will make a fuzz stick for each patrol member.  MAXIMUM of  35 Nuggets

GOLD DUST CITY Mushers must work together to survive the harsh weather.  The Town Mayor will ask your patrol to walk together on a pair of special skiis. MAXIMUM OF 25 Nuggets.

DONNER’S MESSAGE PASS In the Yukon radio signals don’t work very well.  So you will have to get a message through using snow shoes.  The Town Mayor will provide the snow shoes for you.  MAXIMUM OF 25 Nuggets.

TIRED CITY  You will have to have a safe way to store your food for the night.  Your patrol/den will be asked to suspend an auto tire around a ten foot pole using the three trees(or poles) that your Mayor will show you.  Tire may not touch the snow at any time or you will lose nuggets.  When finished the tire will be suspended, by rope, without the help of any patrol member.  MAXIMUM OF 35 Nuggets.

COMPASS ROSE  The first thing you need to know to get around the Yukon is to know what tools you have to find your way.  Your Town Mayor will show you some of these tools (for a very short time) and then ask you to make a list of what you saw.  MAXIMUM OF 25 Nuggets

LITTLE SALMON  Ice fishing is a way of life in the Yukon. Especially at Little Salmon where you’re fishing for “Tru-Steelhead”.  Your Town Mayor will give you poles and rope to make your fishing pole so you can catch your next meal. (The Mayor will have an assembled pole so you can see how it’s done.) To be successful at “fishing” you need to tie: Round lashings, Two Half Hitche, Square Knot, and Bowline. You will be judged on the time it takes to assemble your pole and catch your fish.  MAXIMUM of 35 Nuggets

THE LAST RACE   A team (Webelos Den OR Scout Patrol) must have earned at least 8 Marbles to enter this event (one for each town) This is a timed event.  You will be given a starting point and you will pull your sledge as fast as you can to the finish line.  Your time will be recorded and the fastest team in each Division will get 10 Nuggets; the second fastest will get nine and on down the line.  Actual nuggets will not be issued for this event since we won’t know the winner until all sledges have completed the race.  MAXIMUM  of 10 Nuggets.

All recognitions will take place at the March Roundtable.  The top teams in each division will be given a special recognition at a Pack meeting or a Court of Honor.

If there should be any dispute over nuggets Klondike Pete will make the call.
