 New Leader Essentials (All Leaders)

New Leader Essentials is a 90 minute introductory session that highlights the values, aims, history, funding, and methods of Scouting. Cub Scout, Boy Scout, Varsity Scout, and Venturing leaders all take the same course.  Cost is free.  However, registration is requested.

 Troop Committee

Troop Committee Challenge is a course that is often done for an entire troop committee in an evening.  It is the 3rd and final step needed to become “trained”.  Cost is free.

 Cub Scout Leader Specific (All Cub Scout Leaders)

Cub Scout Leader Specific training takes about 3 hours.  You are considered “trained” when all 3 steps are completed.  (Cost is $5.00 if registration is received at a council service center 2 weeks prior to course.  The fee is $7.50 thereafter.  Remember, $5 in Scout Training Bucks will be offered at end of class.)

This position specific training takes about 8 hours.  Cost is $10.00 if registration is received at a council service center 2 weeks prior to course.  The fee is $15 thereafter.  Remember, $10 in Scout Training Bucks will be offered at end of class.

Outdoor Skills Instruction (SM/ASM/WDL/VC/AVC)

This is an overnight outdoor Scoutcraft skills course that is also recommended for Webelos Leaders.  The $15.00 cost includes food and is set by course.

 Youth Protection Training (All Leaders)

Youth protection training for adult leaders is offered either as an instructor-led course, often at district Round tables, or as a web-based training.  Go to http://www.mountbakerbsa.org/training to access the web training.  Training expires every 2 years.  Free.

 Safety Afloat and Safe Swim Defense (All Leaders)

Swimming and boating safety instruction required for troop leaders.  Check with your Round table staff or district trainers for additional times and locations.  Free.
